About Us

Agnes Yngson, BSc, [DDM Phillipines], PID  graduated dentistry from the University of the East, College of Dentistry Manila, Philippines in 1993. where she practiced dentistry for 12 years, specializing in the field of Orthodontics before moving to Canada. She successfully challenged the BC Provincial Certification exam for certified dental assisting given by the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia that same year and later received her National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) certificate after successfully writing the theoretical exam.

In 2004, Agnes completed the Orthodontic Module offered by the University of British Columbia Faculty of Dentistry. She was fundamental in setting up the curriculum for, and taught the first class of the Intra-Oral Dental Assisting Program at CDI College Burnaby campus in 2005 and saw the program through the accreditation process by the Commission of Dental Accreditation of Canada in July 2006 of which the program was granted its accreditation the same year. Due to the continuous success of the delivery of the said program, I was promoted to the position as Dental Department Head for both CDI's Burnaby and Surrey location.

In 2007, Agnes completed the Provincial Instructor Diploma (PID) from Vancouver Community College.

Agnes acquired a CDAC accreditation grant allowing her to create and submit an Expanded Orthodontic Module to the College of Dental Surgeons of BC. After a thorough council review, the College gave its approval in July 2006. This achievement was recognized by CDI in  August 2007 when she was honored with the Parthenon Instructor of the Year Award presented to her in Alamo,Texas.

Melinda Ferguson-Robertson, BSc, RDH, BBA, MPH (c) presenter/trainer is a wet fingered restorative hygienist, educator and consultant with over 25 years of clinical experience. She is former instructor and program coordinator of the Vancouver College of Dental Hygiene, publisher of the PHD Services newsletter, the Dental Auxiliary Magazine (DAM!), and has a number of articles published in peer reviewed journals. 


She spoke to a full house at the 2010 Pacific Dental Conference (PDC) on "Social Media for Dentistry", sponsored by the Canadian Dental Hygienists association. She was asked to speak for Novora BioMedical at their ODA product launch, following her presentation on a “More Medical Approach to Diagnosis and Treatment in Dentistry Dental Hygiene” at the ‘So you think you can speak’ 2010 PDC presentation. Melinda will be speaking at the 2011 PDC on “Oral Probiotics”.

Melinda played a role in putting together the AHA Practice management series – Back to Basics (6 sessions) for Al Heaps and Associates that launched earlier this year (with Jaime White and Mavis Simmons). She also launched her “Working Smarter not Harder – while keeping patients healthier and dentists happier” series of in-office training for dental hygienists during 2010 as well as an expanded Social Media Program follow the success of the 2010 PDC program. 

In addition to her teaching, she has been involved in ghost writing for a number of dental professionals, writes web/social media content, blog entries,and hosts twitter accounts, and Facebook pages for dental offices and organizations.  Melinda also runs a studyclub in the Vancouver area "Working Smarter NOT Harder".
